Hi everyone! Yes, I'm still alive. :)
I don't know about you all, but I absolutely adore this time of the year. I was walking through the school hallway the other day, and the front door was open. The cool, crisp air filtered throughout the school, and it brought a little thrill to my heart.
I think colored leaves is one of my favorite things about fall. They are just beautiful! I find myself taking a lot more pictures of scenery during this time of year.
Did you know that the color of a leaf is caused by the amount of sugar the leaf is storing? *gasp* That's genius! Maple trees are the most vibrant because of this. Actually, the reds, oranges, and yellows are always there, but the sunlight fuels the production of chlorophyl, which causes the green color to overpower the other colors.
Then there's this phenomena of sweater weather. Obviously, we start dressing warmer because it's cold outside! But each year, I can't wait to pull out my sweaters, boots, and thick socks. Why?
Sweaters are simply so cozy. They hide everything, right ladies? It's easy to just relax in a comfy, no-hassle sweater. The layers of warmth bring a sense of security that is just not experienced in the summertime.
And how could we forget - PUMPKIN EVERYTHING! Honestly, I don't need fall to come to have an excuse to make pumpkin bread, pumpkin rolls, pumpkin muffins... anything. But, it is nice that there's a time of year when the necessary ingredients get cheaper, and the flavoring is everywhere!
By the way - go try an espresso Frappuccino from Starbucks, and get some pumpkin sauce added in. Oh my - so delicious.
But did you know that pumpkin spice has nothing to do with pumpkins? It's just a mix of nutmeg, ginger, cinnamon, allspice, and cloves. So you can make it on your own anytime you want, with or without a pumpkin. ;)
What are your favorite things about fall? Leave a comment and let me know! I'd love to hear from you!
